Egypt - March '09

We decided to splash out have a long relaxing holiday for a change instead of a short 3-4 day trip.

This time it was to Egypt.

We spent 3 days in Cairo where we went to the pyramids and the Cairo Museum.

The Pyramids were AWESOME!!! Much larger in real life. You really feel like an Ant when you look up to the top.

We went into the Great Pyramid which was very cool but there really wasn't much too see as everything had been robed years ago.

The museum was good too but after a while everything started to look the same!

We also did a 7 day Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan and then back to Luxor.

The first few days we spent around Luxor visiting Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Colossus of Memnon, Valley of the Kings, Tomb of Tut Ankh Amun, Queen Hatshepsut Temple and the Valley of the Queens.

We sailed on the night of the 3 day and when we woke up we were in Edfu where we visited the Temple there and then we sailed to see Kom Ombo Temple and then we sailed to Aswan overnight.

The next day we went to the Nubian village where we held a baby Crocadile - I have to say that we were the only ones too!!!

We also went to the Unfinished Obelisk, High Dam and then to Philae Temple which was been moved in the 70's since it was under water after they built the first Dam over the Nile.

The next day we went Felucca sailing to the Botanic Island and then we had a party on board that night while cruising back towards Luxor.

After Breakfast we went to Esna Temple which was the last one, finally, and then completed the journay back to Luxor.

The last day was the first day that we got to sleep in past 7am, so much for a relaxing holiday!!!

We had the day to ourselves so we spent most of the afternoon at the Market haggeling which was lots of fun.

Over all it was a fantastic trip which we will remember for ever.

Enjoy the photos, they are just a selection of heaps more!
